Unfortunately, because of the continuing COVID threat, we have made the sad decision to not hold our annual December Gala this year.
DON’T WORRY! We plan to be back in full-force with our Gala on December 11, 2021. Mark your calendars now!
We know many of you look forward to this event every year – a time for coming together, having fun, dressing up, and hearing the poignant stories of what some of our young victims have endured. But with the cancellation of two local events, our gala and 12 Hours of Mesa Verde, our local contributions will be reduced by nearly $100,000 which makes up over 30% of our annual budget. The gala fundraising also helps us receive matching funds from many grantors.
Let’s not forget the innocent young people among us during this difficult time. The Child Advocacy Center has seen a sharp increase in services as our young ones return to school and are spending time with those in their safety network who are mandated reporters like our teachers, bus drivers, custodial staff, lunch staff, and aides. We ask that you consider financially supporting our mission in our community with a donation similar to what you would have made at our Gala.
We will hold a special online auction that will open in December with five handprint tiles and one beautiful quilt. We know many businesses “collect” these handprints yearly, and we want to continue the tradition of sharing the stories of those who are healing from their trauma. Look for a postcard in the mail in November with more information about our auction. We hope to raise $40,000 through the auction and generous donations.
Again, thank you for your continued support of our mission and work in the four corners region. We look forward to seeing you in 2021.
